Think this through. It's an aquatic beastie, likely 100's of feet long, with 8 arms that go every which way. How could you weigh it without killing it?

I saw this on a Discovery channel (i believe?) special....

it was so cool....they used reasoning...

they tried it on a hole the size of a dime, and just one feel with one of it's arm, determined that they could not make it through the Dime size whole as they could the quarter size one....so they did not even try.

their bones in the body are collapsible, I think?

in a tarp or in the plexiglass box that they were doing the experiment in, quickly emptied of water, deducting the weight of the box....then putting the octopus back in to the sea....

saw it on tv....

I don't remember the weight of the octopus though, but it was much larger than the hole.
