60% of America agrees with Republicans that spending cuts must come with raising the debt ceiling.

I'm saying their poll is skewed.
It is because the top ends also found that people want increases in funding for helping the poor, the safetynet, ssi, etc. Maybe people want to cut the fucking military, get out of wars and stop policing the world? It doesn't mean that they want to work until they drop dead like the billioinaire class that rules the republican party so wants.

We need to cut the DOD and we need to cut lots of other spending. How do the billionaires that rule the Republican Party different than the billionaires that rule the Democratic Party?

No, I think it's skewed because 60% of the country is not conservative, asshole Republicans. This is a liberal country with liberal rules.

Just because someone is liberal about social programs does NOT mean they agree with spending more money than we have.

You're right. Both sides have been piss poor. But now, one side wants to be responsible and the other side wants to keep living over their head. I'm with the responsible Republicans here.

The republicans only want to be responsible when they are not in power. The dems are the same way.

How about we put party politics aside and start only spending what we have?

And how about we raise the debt ceiling, like we have every other time, rather than cause catastrophic problems for the people?

If we spend only what we have, why would we need to raise the debt ceiling?

MAGA Republicans are making another attempt to reign in spending but Democrats and neocons, who are political robber barons, don't want their easy money scams stepped on. The problem is with the establishment of both parties.

How many attempts to reign in spending did MAGA make when Trump was President?

No administration has reined in the nationanal debt.

"Lifting the debt ceiling was once a fairly routine vote. Since 1960, Congress has raised the ceiling 78 times — 49 times under Republican presidents and 29 times under Democratic presidents."

Like I have said before, the only time either party argies about raising the debt ceiling is when the other party in in the White House.

There is zero concern for the people. Like most examples of party politics, what is best for the people is ignored in favor of trying to hurt the other party.

Not raising the debt ceiling will result in huge problems.

From the same website:
"What would happen if the U.S. defaulted on the debt?
Although it has never happened, the U.S. has come close to a default. In August 2011, for example, ratings agencies downgraded the U.S. from its top AAA credit rating to AA+ amid prolonged debate in Congress on whether to raise the debt ceiling. It sent the markets into a freefall.

An actual default would be much worse, most economists agree. Not only would the U.S. likely be downgraded again, but government workers and Social Security recipients — among many others — would go unpaid. Financial markets could be severely hit. For businesses and average Americans, it could become difficult to borrow money. Without access to credit, a recession would be all but certain, many economists agree.

The global status of the U.S. dollar as a reserve currency and of U.S. Treasury bonds as a "safe haven" investment might also be challenged."

Does anyone here think it is worth it? Just to make some party politics bullshit claim?

Then since Democrats have no plan at all except to "spend more" the smart Americans will rally behind the MAGA Republicans plan.

Right, because the MAGA republicans have been so fiscally responsible.

Like I said, this is not about GOP or DNC. This is about people living on SSI still getting the check they need to live. This is about veteran's services not closing. This is about the rank and file gov't workers not having to work for free until it gets resolved.

Stop looking at it as GOP versus DNC. Look at it as taking care of the people and not starting a new recession.

wamose, please tell me what part of my post is Fake News? The results of not raising the debt ceiling? The fact that BOTH parties are fiscally irresponsible? The idea that making the US default is somehow going to improve things?

Oh, and if we default and the catastrophic results happen, it will be the fault of the MAGA republicans. And the people will know that.

Funny that you were all for raising the debt ceiling when it was a republican in the White House, but now you say "Fuck the people, we want to burn the democrats".

More partisan bullshit at the expense of the people.

The Republicans use the same strategy, that is the problem, both sides increase debt, neither side cares about reducing debt. Trump increased debt, he was no better than anyone else.
