6 In 10 Young Republicans Favor Legal Marijuana...So why dont Republicans?

Marihuana provides BETTER benefits with fewer side effects than chemical pharmaceuticals.

Again, if you bothered to learn anything about pot, you'd already know this but you can't be bothering learning anything that might challenge your belief structure.

It's still illegal and it still creates an altered mental state in its users. Even if only the second item were true it would have no legitimate value so far as I'm concerned.
thats YOU....but to others it has a legitimate value....especially some of the ones with legit medical problems....

It's not illegal everywhere. Perhaps where you live it is but not where I live.

It's illegal on a FEDERAL level, so YES it IS illegal everywhere. Just because Obastard refuses to have the DEA kick doors in throughout Colorado and Washington doesn't make it legal
i dont know about legalizing it but i think the decriminalization of it aint too far away....

Older republicans see what young people do when they are high. Older democrats are high themselves.

And what do young people do when high?

ROFLMNAO!

What a load of crap.

Unlike Alcohol, there's no objective means to know the potency of what you're ingesting.

A glass of wine rarely sends anyone driving onto the off ramp... I've smoked entire joints and got a nice buzz... and I've had two tokes off another joint that LITERALLY CAUSED ME TO GO BLIND.

So... :bsflag:

wow...that must have been some good shit....LOL......

That's why you need to watch it. You're completely ignorant and don't know what you're talking about. One of the biggest problems with morons like you is that you keep standing in the way of legitimate pharmacological development.

For me this is a MORALITY issue not a pharmaceutical one; therefore nothing the video could show would make a difference.

No, it's an ignorance issue for you, and nothing more. I repeat: They have cultivated a variety of cannabis that completely lacks THC and consequently has no psychoactive effect whatsoever. It's no different from the fact that there are mushrooms that you eat as food, and then there are mushrooms that some people take as a recreational drug.

To say that it's a morality issue is beyond stupid. Of course, you'd know that if you'd actually watched the video.

Oh! Ok... I'm for legalizing the Pot that doesn't get you high. And for moving up the penalty for possession of pot that does get ya high to the death penalty.

There ya go... make it so.

Glad we got that worked out.

Tell the Kids that the Swimmer worked that out for 'em.

At least we can agree on some part of it. Though I don't see how marijuana prohibition has done any good for our society. If people want to drink themselves to death, let them. Same with smoking cigarettes, or pot. Hell, I wouldn't be opposed to government spending to provide people with all the heroin and meth their little hearts desire. Hurry up and die. Sometimes the best way to deal with a fire is to let it burn itself out.

in a free society thats just fine. But in our current socialist society where we all pay the medical bills of the smokers, drinkers, druggies, etc. then it doesn't work.

I personally don't care if you smoke yourself to death, but I don't want to pay for your cancer treatment.
if the smoker is paying into a policy then you aint paying for it......

What the study says is that after it causes the lung cancer is can be use to relieve the pain

Evidence of marijuana’s cancer-fighting properties dates as far back as the 1970s. Munson et al. (1975) were the first group of researchers to find that orally administered THC could slow tumor growth and increase survival rates in animal models of lung cancer. However, research on medical marijuana and lung cancer grew sparse in the following years and has only recently picked up again.

Using animal models and cell cultures, the researchers found that THC treatment over a 28 day period resulted in a 50% reduction in tumor growth and a 60% reduction in cancerous lesions.

then make it a legal prescription drug. I don't think anyone has an issue with that. But if you legalize it like tobacco, lung cancer and emphasema rates will increase.

and to cite something from a pro-pot website proves nothing.

Young people start off stupid and wise up as they get older. Same reason we don't raise the speed limit to 120mhp for young people.

thats YOU....but to others it has a legitimate value....especially some of the ones with legit medical problems....

I have both Glaucoma and Epileptic issues. My father died of Brain Cancer. I think that covers three of the main uses for this shit.
ok....and you dont want to use it.....are you against others using it IF, they feel it helps out their problems?.....

You know........I'm still wondering where the "morality" of this comes into play. I mean...........it says in the Bible that when God kicked Adam and Eve out of the Garden, one of the things he told them was that if it grows out of the ground, they could have it.

Interestingly enough, cannabis was one of the oils required for the Holy Anointing Oil for the Kings of Israel. Even Jesus got bathed in it at one time.

Besides...................can anyone point to a verse that says smoking cannabis is a sin?

It's a beneficial plant, and while different varieties may be a bit more potent than they were 50 years ago, remember this...................many different varieties of vegetables (corn, potatoes, tomatoes, carrots, peas, etc.) have been selectively bred to make them produce better crops. Cross pollinating to make a better product isn't making drugs, it's cross pollinating plants.

I dare anyone to show me where in states where it is sold legally via the stores where ANY grower puts additives on their plants.

You won't.

I also find it interesting that when some people on this thread can no longer refute the facts and research given to them by others, the next thing they do is holler out that somehow smoking cannabis is immoral.

Maybe by your morality, it's a sin, but certainly not by mine.

I live in Canada, so NO, medical marihuana is not illegal everywhere. The USA is not the only country in the world.

And yeah, medical marihuana is legal here. In fact, the federal government issues licenses to approved growers.

Sory, my definition of EVERYWHERE ends at the borders of the USA, because that's where the WORLD ends for me. At lesat in part because other nations are even worse in ignoring enforcement of even the most basic MORALS and VALUES than the United States is; and that's saying something.

It's attitudes like this that are behind the slow slide of the USA into mediocrity. Ignore science, technology, and even common sense and when questioned, stand on moral grounds. Except that your morals have no Biblical basis, no scientific basis and no basis in common sense.

You are misinterpreting your own cite. Yes, THC retards the growth of some lung cancers, but smoking pot causes lung cancer.

You don't get the benefits by smoking it. It has to be used by IV to do any good.

Putting any kind of smoke into your lungs damages them. ANY KIND OF SMOKE.

Who ever said Morality was connected to Science or Religion? It isn't. It's connected largely to TRADITION and VALUES. The Traditions and Values that were the founding ideals of Human society thousands of years ago. Long before Science or Religion even existed.

It's not immoral for a woman to be an Engineer because she CAN'T do the job. It's immoral for her to be an Engineer because she shouldn't have a job to begin with. Likewise, marijuana use isn't immoral because some book says so, or anything like that. It's immoral because it creates an altered mental state which reduces the individual's ability to react to potential threats or other imminent dangers; which puts that individual and anyone else relying on them in danger.

Let's tackle "traditions and values". Until the 1930's, marihuana was legal. And it's been in use for thousands of years.

North American indigenous peoples used it in religious ceremonies, as do religions in other parts of the world.

There are lots of substances which produce "altered mental states" including coffee, sugar, alcohol and wine. Eating a turkey sandwich with a glass of milk will make you drowsy. Are you proposing that all substances that alter your mental state be banned?

There is no logic or reason to your beliefs and yet you would inflict them on the rest of us.

The U.S. has incarcerated thousands of people because of laws prohibiting pot. The costs for keeping people in prison for pot use are onerous, not to mention the wreckage this makes of lives. These laws are disproportionately used against young black men, criminalizing these men which affects their families and their job prospects.

Nearly two-thirds of Millennials who identify as Republican support legalizing marijuana, while almost half of older GOP Gen-Xers do, according to a recently released Pew survey that could be an indicator of where the debate is heading.

While the Pew Research Center survey published on Friday shows a 14 percentage point gap between Republicans and Democrats under the age of 34, six-in-10 GOP-leaning Millennials still said they favor legalizing cannabis. Seventy-seven percent of surveyed Democrats in the same age group held that view.

For those aged 35 to 50, the same 14 percentage point gap between Republicans and Democrats was evident, but the respective percentages were somewhat lower. In that age group, 47 percent of Republicans favored legalization, as opposed to 61 percent of Democrats.

As Pew notes: "The debate over marijuana also comes ahead of the 2016 presidential election, when both political parties are fighting over the coveted Millennial vote as this group of eligible voters swells in size, even if its members do not consistently show up on Election Day."

The survey follows controversial decisions in Alaska and the District of Colombia. They join Colorado and Washington State. Medical marijuana is legal in some other states, such as California and Minnesota.

The survey on attitudes on marijuana legalization by political affiliation largely mirrors a survey Pew conducted a year ago concerning same-sex marriage. It showed that 61 percent of self-identified Republicans under 30 favored allowing gays and lesbians to marry, as opposed to 77 percent of Democrats in the same age group.

Because 99 out of 100 Geezer Republicans oppose it, and there are only 347 young Republicans anyways.
