Franken was absolutely wrong to resign. The fact that he was forced out, against his will, signaled to me that this was going to be the tactics of the Never Trumpers (in a broadly used definition), they were going to apply the same standards to people, "oh look, an accusation, Fraken resigned, so must you!".

The PM of Canada fired people from his caucus based on allegations. He said "we have to believe the women", we had a Conservative leader a month before the provincial election get the same, canned, due to an allegation from decades earlier. No judge, jury or conviction.

Ironically, PM Trudeau just faced one such allegation, and a fair criticism is, "wait, you made others leave their job just based on an allegation, why aren't you resigned!??! Remember? We must believe the women". It's a valid point and this is why Libertarians are outraged by such tactics and standards. They aren't standards at all, just the very word of someone, and they even get to remain anonymous. What in the....

Let's lay it all out, cards on the tables, how many right now are in government who have paid hush women from the taxpayer? If someone tried to screw me over, Franken or otherwise, not only would I not leave, I'd say, "let's see the list of those who paid off accusers, They all must go, immediately".

None of it is fair, it's very very dangerous. Either a court convicts you, or very simply, you're innocent. Trudeaus statement was that he didn't believe he did anything wrong, but he now understands that she might have not felt the same. This is valid I suppose, but a very different standard than he applied to others.

It's the basic premise of liberty is assumption of innocence, once this is gone, what the hell do you have?

I don't know if he knew about this or didn't I simply don't think people should be making allegations against someone if they can't provide something to back up the allegation it doesn't matter to me if the person the allegation is made against is Republican, Democrat in or out of the public eye. In this day and age even a false allegation can destroy someones life in 24 to 48 hours and when the damage is done it's all but impossible to undo it people should really think about that before pushing these type of things all over social media.

There was a Witch Hunt in the 1990s by Toronto Police against gay men. These men were targeted as being part of some diddler ring, it ended up not being true (from my recollection at least, at the very least it was grossly exaggerated and an over reach of an entire community). Some of the "evidence" was outright scary and absurd. men who rented porn videos from kiosks were looked at, as an example, with prejudice.

Many of these men lost their careers, were ostracized from their communities, had their families disown them, etc. More than one committed suicide and they were exonerated years after, alot of good that did them.

I can't think of a person more deserving of hell than anyone who orders that sort of "operation". It's inexcusable and a Canadian trait. America better beware, THIS is where an expanded and unaccountable system can lead to. One of the reasons socialism is a blight on humanity.

Well I doubt he did it to guys like Mark Coleman. Gordon Gee was the President at The Ohio State University at the time and he let pretty much anything slide. I was there at the time, and my Freshman year they had lost all the basketball team and started like 5 freshman and had to do an open tryout for students to try and fill the team... because of violations.

I hope he isn't pulling a Paterno. The Ohio Stae University is my Alana mater. In spite of his politics, Jordan is part of the Ohio State community. I, as alumni of other great American universities, hope and pray this begins and ends with one sick person. I hope no school employee was complicit with these sins. I hope every school employee contacted by the victims did everything in their power to shine a light on the abuse and end it then and there.

That's what I don't understand. They're in college? That's insane. As a skinny wrestler in High School there is no way that would happen with a close knit team without it being made public somehow. I struggle with this concept also. It's possible other coaches might not know something if the team is fragmented, but certainly team mates would know

Men on sports teams are a different breed. They train together on a daily basis and know what's going on. At the very least, I can't imagine someone would show up for the team the next day, it just seems remote it wouldn't be leaked to someone.

Again, I can't say for certain what is right or wrong, but I can definitely be skeptical, at the very least, in regards to the specifics and details.

House Republicans are refusing to publicly defend Tea Party firebrand Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) as more details come to light about the congressman’s role in the Ohio State University sexual assault scandal.

Rep. Jordan worked as an assistant wrestling coach at Ohio State from 1987 to 1995, during which time multiple victims have alleged team physician Richard Strauss sexually abused them and fostered a culture of regular sexual harassment.


“I considered Jim Jordan a friend,” former Ohio State wrestler Mike DiSabato told NBC. “But at the end of the day, he is absolutely lying if he says he doesn’t know what was going on.”

“When you look at the definition of sexual abuse and sexual assault — and Jim Jordan went on record saying he knew about the facilities, he took showers with us. He saw Dr. Strauss and others perform these acts in front of us,” DiSabato told CNN.

More former Ohio State wrestlers have come forward to accuse Rep. Jordan of having known about the abuse, with The New York Times reporting a total of five of Jordan’s former student-athletes disputing the congressman’s denials of knowing about the abuse....

it's possible it happened, it just seems a stretch to assume Jordan knew, and or, the specifics weren't leaked to someone at some point.

When I was in grade 4 and came forward, I was lucky and others followed. Those who liked the teacher attacked me and called me a liar, imagine that, as a kid being bullied by older kids for ratting out a creep (I often thought some of them were victim too and were in denial a year or two after being in his class and took it out on us for having the courage to come forward). We had mock trials in class by a loving replacement teacher as he was suspended, and thankfully we never went to trial as the sob pleaded guilty. The animal was allowed to leave Ontario and teach in another province our east! Again, Canada...a backwards country.

As it were, many kids were afraid to come forward, and we were literally kids. Now, in High School, I can't imagine for a minute a teacher or my wrestling coach getting away with that systemically. College? I mean, I don't want to presume, but someone must have whispered something.

The timing is too convenient and the accused is gone already. Linking this to a man in the height of his career and very public persona is going to raise alot of questions about the accusers. As it should. These types of allegation shouldn't be easy to throw out at anyone just willy nilly.

Perkins Coie, you may recall, has was hired by the DNC and Hillary Clinton campaign to funnel money to Fusion GPS. FEC filings show that the Clinton campaign and the DNC paid Perkins Coie a combined $12.4 million in 2016. Marc Elias, general counsel to Hillary for America and a partner at Perkins Coie, retained Fusion GPS in April 2016 to dig up dirt on President Trump. A political group tied to the former president -- Obama for America (OFA) -- paid nearly a million dollars to the same law firm.

Perkins Coie also retained CrowdStrike, a cybersecurity outfit, to look into the DNC’s servers after they had been hacked in 2016.

So far, Perkins Coie has interviewed more than 150 former OSU students and witnesses, according to the Columbus Dispatch.

"The timing is suspect," Jordan told Baier. "When you think about how this whole story came together after the Rosenstein interview -- hearing ..."

On June 28, Jordan accused Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein of lying and "hiding information" during a heated House Judiciary Committee hearing over the Department of Justice's lack of transparency.

He also asked the Deputy AG if he had threatened staffers on the House Intelligence Committee as media reports had claimed. "Having the nation's number one law enforcement officer threaten to subpoena your calls and emails is downright chilling," Jordan said.
