THOUGHTS FROM AN INDEPENDENT:

Turning aside from the impeachment stuff for the moment, let's look ahead to 2020, and discuss which weakness is weaker:

The GOP has a deeply flawed President who can't stop shooting himself in the foot with his shady business deals, and his big mouth, however: Whatever one thinks of the GOP and their voters, the Conservative wing is disciplined enough to support their candidate "warts and all"

The Democrats have the edge in the polls right now, but it's not because America embraces the Liberal agenda, it's because Trump is a train wreck. However.....as Bill Clinton said 25 years ago: "Getting Democrats to agree on a course of action is like herding cats"

Plenty to weakness to go around, but which weakness is weaker going into 2020?

IMHO - It's still too close to call.

It's really not close at all. Trump's approval is as high as Obama's was at this point in his first term, and Obama won re-election easily.

I no longer pay attention to polls. Instead I look at campaign signs. I am already seeing signs and flags for Trump.

Not a single one for any other candidate.

People are barely paying attention to the Democrat candidates anymore. They've worn out their welcome having so many debates. In 1960, there were only two!

People should at least read about them, each debate the people running get crazier and crazier. The electorate should be aware of just how crazy these people are.

I would wager another factor might influence the election, and that would be American's sharp-eye and keen dislike of propaganda.

The opponents of the President have been screaming vociferously about his unsuitability for office from literally the second he was elected. In much the same way that Obama was awarded an Nobel Prize before doing anything in office, President Trump was declared the reincarnation of Hitler and the Son of Satan himself before he ever set foot in the oval office.

That kind of loud, dissonant, chorus of hate and blame has been going on for three years and most Americans are frankly sick of it.

People who think are going to ask themselves, 'What precisely has he done to warrant all this abuse?'. When the answer is, 'Nothing much at all.', I suspect a backlash will occur.

Trump was sent to DC to "drain teh swamp" and the establishment wings of BOTH parties hate Trump for it.
Trump has trampled their propaganda arm, the "MSM" and has defeated every coup attempt.
The 2020 election will be a confirmation of the Trump vision for America versus the socialists takeover attempt.

It may be that the primary two variables will be this impeachment circus and the economy.

Seems to me that the primary goal of the impeachment and surrounding drama is just to peel some independents away from Trump, which is possible.

Then there's the economy, and no one can intelligently claim to know what that will look like in a year. The Rust Belt states will be watching very carefully.

The Democrats are in this psycho arms race to make wild, ridiculous promises, and the GOP has sold its soul to Trump. Most likely another lousy choice is on the way.

I would wager a bet given all that, there are far more brain dead, me me me millennials and other idiots out there who have been told to hate Trump and would rather stab themselves in the eye than see clearly, who will be voting. At the same time, the "old guard" boomers are dying off so the balance is tipping in favor of the crazies.

Trump "should" win.......but I'm not calling it a done deal yet.
