Two Bronx girls who claim they were raped and sodomized in their middle school auditorium for nearly two hours will likely have to come face to face with the boys who attacked them, a lawyer for the alleged victims said.

The girls, ages 12 and 13, were inside the Urban Science Academy on Teller Ave. in Claremont just after lunch on Oct. 16 when the boys, ages 13 and 14, sexually assaulted them, officials said. The boys, who knew their accusers, were arrested and charged with rape.

On Monday morning, the girls may have to sit across the table from their attackers at a Bronx Department of Education office as they recount their ordeal during a suspension hearing for the two boys, according to attorney Alan Ripka, who is suing the city on the accusers’ behalf.

The girls are terrified about seeing the alleged attackers again, but school officials said if they didn’t testify, the alleged rapists won’t be suspended.

I don't know what shocks me more in this story... The fact that victims and the assaulters are that young. Or the fact that the officials want the girls to go through facing their attackers again. Aren't they supposed to be protected by law from this experience?

Since they were arrested, they should automatically be suspended, or the boys can be kept in jail. That is horrible for them to sit with those boys again. What is wrong with those school officials?

Letting them back at school if the girls don't cooperate is giving the boys opportunity to rape again. They cannot take that chance.

Presumption of innocence.
