While it might be as high as 3 million defensive uses of guns each year, some scholars point to the much lower estimate of 108,000 times a year. Hold on a second. Your link that sources this claim doesn't say it's an increase in gun crime, but gun incidents. Which could mean anything. Secondly, the 42% increase was an increase from 1600 to 2500, so it's not like we're talking a massive increase...in fact, when viewed through the prism of the United States, we could LOVE to get our gun incidents number down to that level.

There are only something like 60 million people in United Kingdom if that. 1600 to 2500 is a lot per capita.
