You just didn't cross the church then, which was also the government. Which is a shame. Who can say all the brilliant minds and discoveries lost through ignorance and fear.

It says greedy hands. Criminals were punished severely in the Middle Ages.

ETA: What was the punishment for atheism?

It does not say "greedy hands". It says precisely what the OP says it says. And it says nothing about "criminals" or anything about crime.

If they cut the cross off, the Democrats could use this to break the hands of people who won't agree that a man can become a woman just by saying he is.

Well, actually the most problems with churches always was because human beings ran them... But most of them did okay as they took their problems to God in prayer. He answers.

Historic evidence linking "Christian Priests" to a torture device is fuzzy while historic archives depict Islamic terrorists beheading Christians during the same era. Times were hard in the dark ages.

the Catholics themselves admit it

Not only is that evidence in no way "sketchy", it was codified at the time in a how-to book.
Malleus Maleficarum

Squeezing people to death. Enclosing them in sharp points. Burning them alive, with their own children forced to watch. Pure sadism.

Abu Afak has exposed his ignorance, gullibility, and bigotry.

Timely fuckin' response, man! Kudos!

In our "middle age" city we have a torture chamber, which was made in the 19th century for tourists.

Are you sure this machine wasn't made from atheists during the French revolution?

In my middle age city in Germany we have a torture chamber - which was made for tourists in the 19th century. And I fear we Germans - or perhaps the Italians - also had invented on the same reason the iron maiden and the chastity belt - specially also for English tourists, who loved such horror and sex stories - and made later stories like "Frankenstein" on their own.

Indeed the Christian church and the liberaries in the monasteries had been always the most important place for education. And most important persons in this context had been the Christian philosopher Aristotle (Heathen) and his interpreter Averroes (Muslim). Practically we can say all modern universities worldwide came from this old Christian tradition.
