There are hundreds of old movies where blacks and American Indians are portrayed as subhuman. Are these appropriate to show on TV ?

Is it appropriate to sweep those things under the rug and pretend they never happened? Attitudes were different and the art at the time reflected those attitudes, but since they aren't in line with what's considered acceptable, should those relics be stuffed away and never mentioned again because they offend modern sensibilities? My question exactly----Hollywood is begging for money to restore old movies yet many of them are blatantly racist. Do we destroy "offensive' art ? Do we allow them to be aired on public TV. I thought liberals were of the " if you don't like it turn off the TV " ilk.
