His oil still makes him immune to a great degree. Countries like Germany still get nearly half their oil from Russia. Even TRUMP warned about being reliant on Russian oil and implored western europe to be energy independent. For that, Trump was laughed at and called a tool of Russia.

Im all for alternative energy sources, but we should be using our capacity to produce oil to drive down the cost of oil .... boost the American economy while starving the economies of Russia and Iran. Alternative energy would take to long in this situation. Oil can be done much quicker. If the Left is concerned about global warming, the reality is that all this can be done in a relatively short amount of time and would have no effect on climate.
As it is China continues to build coal plants and anything we do is still a drop in a bucket. If we are not producing oil, were still buying it anyway and giving the money to our enemies.
Using alternative energy wont hurt Russia or Iran by driving down world oil prices, therefore for that purpose its useless.
