Yup, I'm going to go there. I'm going to use the "I" word.

Why doesn't the following "hypothetical" situation warrant impeachment?

President X openly promises his supporters he will abuse his power by exacting revenge against his perceived political enemies.

Trump (President X) has taken steps to make his campaign promise to seek 'retribution' reality, critics say

One of prez X's targets is Letisha James whose office prosecuted him. Erik Seibert investigates but can't find sufficient evidence to charge her with a crime. Consequently, he either resigns of is fired.....

Trump (President X) says U.S. attorney investigating Letitia James didn't quit — 'I fired him!'

........invoking memories of Nixon during the Watergate crisis.

Donald Trump’s (President X's) Firing of a Federal Prosecutor Crosses the Reddest of Lines

As if that weren't enough he says the quiet, enormously corrupt part, out loud and very loudly.

‘We can’t delay any longer’: Trump (President X) urges Bondi to prosecute his rivals

What elements are missing for the House to pass articles of impeachment against prez X for an obvious abuse of power...........other than a Repub lead House willing to do its constitutional duty?

1. AS we have learned, impeachment only matters if your party controls the Senate in sufficient numbers to pass it.
2. Trump's declining health is such that a 25th Amendment issue may be more likely.
Regarding point #1, I'm not suggesting articles of impeachment have any chance of being passed in the House, let alone the Senate.

I'm asking why doesn't the series of events I referenced warrant impeachment...........under ordinary circumstances?

When I saw BergIQ80 say he was going to use the I word, I thought he was finally going to use personal pronoun of sentient individuals I instead of the sheeple talk "we".

I see I was wrong.

Why are you pissed when Trump is simply doing to them what they had done to him?
My apologies. I should have prefaced my hypothetical by asking that no one go down the road of specious whataboutisms or factually inaccurate analogies. The exercise is to simply look at the facts I've laid out and answer why they don't warrant impeachment?

Off topic TDS question: What do you think about that NY B&H LIB who ran on I will get Orange Man Bad.

Prosecutors generally run on arresting and prosecuting known criminals. The State of New York has been trying to prosecute Trump since the 1990’s but had no “probable cause” to use to obtain a search warrant.

Michael Cohen gave them the probable cause they needed.

Trump has openly bragged about bribing politicians for his projects and other crimes he’s committed, including sexual assault, bribery, and using charitable donations for personal expenses.

Trump has always been a crook. He should have been jailed in the 1990’s over his phony bankruptcy scams.

Of course you are! Your retarded Democrats have already wasted our time and money on two phony impeachments, why not 3? Or 4? Go for it, it's not like they any other responsibilities other than bash Trump.

The President is a Constitutional office, all the DoJ, including the AG, are mere creations of law, they serve at the Presidents's pleasure.

Indeed, when Congress first created the office of Attorney General as a Cabinet office in 1870, it was to serve the President. The 1870 Act also created the Department of Justice.

The Constitution says the President is to "take care that the Laws be faithfully executed". All power of law enforcement flows from that.

Okay, but could we please stick to the question I asked in the OP.

Why doesn't the following "hypothetical" situation warrant impeachment?

Actually, they don't as Nixon painfully discovered after the Saturday Night Massacre.........one of the events leading to his resignation.

15th post

Not only is his heath just fine but the 25th would give us President Vance!

Trump appeared to confirm those reports, accusing Siebert of saying “that we had no case.”

“There is a GREAT CASE,” Trump said.

Trump also appeared to float his onetime personal attorney Lindsey Halligan — now a White House aide who has been reviewing materials in the Smithsonian museums to ensure they align with Trump’s agenda — to take on a role in the probes of his adversaries.

“Lindsey Halligan is a really good lawyer, and likes you, a lot,” Trump wrote. He later posted that he intended to nominate Halligan to the post, though it’s still unclear if he wants Bondi to immediately install her in the job on an interim basis.

It was a remarkable public message to the nation’s top law enforcement officer, linking his personal grievances over his own criminal prosecutions and congressional impeachments to a potential decision by federal prosecutors to level criminal charges against his adversaries. Trump’s frustration stemmed in part, he said, from “30 statements and posts” from allies that complained “nothing is being done” to punish his longtime rivals.

Trump amplified his post in a brief gaggle with reporters on Saturday night, saying the post was not meant as a criticism of Bondi but that “we have to act fast.”

“One way or the other. They’re guilty, they’re not guilty. We have to act fast,” Trump said. “If they’re not guilty, that’s fine. If they are guilty, or if they should be judged, they should be judged. And we have to do it now.”

He has it wrong. First, prosecutors establish that there actually is a factual case to be brought. As they did with his prosecutions. They don't go to court for the sake of having a trial. There needs to be a reasonable expectation of obtaining a guilty verdict. Like in his cases.

Okay, but could we please stick to the question I asked in the OP.

Why doesn't the following "hypothetical" situation warrant impeachment?
And the test of that is

Would Republicans want to impeach a Dem President had he done this?

The answer?

In a New York minute

Remember when X was accusing Biden of weaponizing the DIOJ? That is exactly what he is doing.
