Hamas is a militant Palestinian resistance movement, which according to international law is permitted. A people who are being illegally occupied by others and even more so when they're being brutalized and murdered, as the Palesitnians are, they have the right to defend themselves.

If you look at Roman and Byzantine records, including that of the Muslim caliphates, the term Palestine and Palestinian is used for the land and those who inhabit it. The Christian and Muslim Palestinians descend from ancient Levantine, Judeo-Palestinian people who converted from Judaism to Christianity and Islam. They are more likely to have ancient Israelite ancestry than Jews from Poland or Crown Heights Brooklyn.
