Why don't you give details on how whatever was "added" caused problems. You did not include any of that in this post, only assumptions and speculations of yours.

I am old enough and fortunate enough to have survived measles contracted via the "measles party". The first kid in the neighborhood gets the measles and every kid comes over and they share a sucker. Everyone gets the measles and it's over a lot faster than if they'd waited for it to spread. We did chicken pox the same way.
