And Obama would say to you, "Exactly, don't worry your little head about things like the economy. All you need to think about is women's issues like abortion."
Your post highlights the reason women who think for themselves disdain the GOP. It's the idea that "government knows best" is a bad idea UNTIL you talk about a woman's body or marriage rights. Then you're all for an intrusive, totalitarian regime.
I understand what you are saying, and some women who are one issue voters might agree with you, but women who see themselves as more than baby factories will be more concerned with the immediate effects of Obama's failure to deal effectively with the economy than with hypotheticals about future Court actions and that neither Romney nor Obama will likely be able to make a difference on this issue.
In fact, some women who are single issue voters like yourself but who believe in the democratic process will want to see this issue decided this issue decided on its own merits by the legislatures they elected rather than being dictated to us by nine political appointees.
Actually, you have no idea what is being said to you.
The ability to do with one's body what one wants is primal. I used to go to burning man every year before the brown shirts took over. It came and went this year and I didn't miss it. You'd likely find no more liberal place on earth than Black Rock during burning man.
If you were to offer these people, say, $10,000 a piece to wear a uniform during burning man--something as unintrusive as a baseball cap, you'd have some takers but by and large you'd get the cold shoulder. Freedom and the idea of freedom are non-negotiable, you see.
Romney wants to overturn Roe. If the law had nothing to do with abortion but, lets say, forced women to donate breast milk to food banks, it would be seen as being just as intrusive, egregious, and bewildering in those who support it from the viewport of those who oppose it,
Reproduction isn't the issue, at it's base, freedom is; that and the GOP hypocrisy of wanting a "smaller" government thats less intrusive when you talk about one thing but much more intrusive in another light.
