I have been hearing this for years and the Ferguson incident has only highlighted this for me. When a White person brings up common sense on social issues in the Black community such as : 70+%of children born out of wedlock , crime and gang culture, or personal responsibility , the answer you get from the left is, "your not Black, you don't understand." That's an "avoid the issue"argument, just like when liberals are losing an argument to a conservative they scream "racist" and walk away. I do understand. I understand I am a tax paying citizen of my community, state, and nation. I have a stake in this. Anybody else feel the frustration?
This fails as both a hasty generalization fallacy and a straw man fallacy.
The factors contributing to issues in the African-American community are complex and varied, there is no single set of 'causes' nor are there quick and easy 'solutions.'
Children being born out of wedlock does not in all cases contribute to poverty, nor is this unique to the African-American community, hence the failure of your 'argument.' Nor is 'crime and gang culture' representative of all African-Americans, and it's incorrect to infer that African-Americans don't practice 'personal responsibility.'
Let's review your fallacies and why the premise of your thread fails:
Hasty generalization fallacy: that all African-Americans are comprehensively effected by such factors as children born out of wedlock, that all African-Americans subscribe to a 'culture' of 'crime and gangs,' that all African-Americans eschew 'personal responsibility,' and that all 'liberals' respond 'the same'
Straw man fallacy: you ignore the actual 'liberal' position on the issue and contrive instead a misrepresentation of that position.
