This is China's new approach to capitalism being controlled or curtailed to keep it consistent with China's socialist policy of serving the people's needs.
It just happens to be the way to keep the people onside and happy with their communist system.
This is in direct contrast to America's capitalist system that has no control over how big corporations get or how wealthy corporatists become. Thusly depriving America's people of a share of the pie.

But do you see how this is a new twist on capitalism that Xi is spearheading? Captialism works if it can be restricted so that it doesn't get the opportunity of doing harm to the country's people.

I put this thread here in the politics section purposely as a comparison for Americans, to their unrestricted form of greedy capitalism.

Yes, it was capitalism that raised the people but Xi and the communist leadership have come to realize that China's inequality was growing at the same time.

Now they are modifying their capitalism so that socialist policies are intact for the purpose of eliminating inequality.

So they're adhering to a modified style of capitalism with reforms that are peculiar to China but not peculiar to the world's leading democracies.

Will it work for China?

You should be able to understand that China had gone full capitalist and was on the way to even mor capitalist reform.

But now they have realized that it was promoting inequality that would eventually cause unrest with China's people and it wouldn't take very long!
