Very commendable. :)

The Wyoming Senate voted 16 to 14 to eliminate the University of Wyoming Gender Studies program with a budget amendment.

The amendment came from Lingle Sen. Cheri Steinmetz, a member of the appropriations committee, who was reviewing course offerings at UW and thought some of the topics were extreme.

Senate cuts UW’s Gender Studies program

The colleges and universities are struggling financially and cutting these types of programs allow them to stay open.

The right wing celebrating cuts in education spending. Shocking--NOT

What education? You guys whine about being tens of thousands of dollars in student loan debt. What is $80k in debt going to get you with a Genders Studies degree? The Chinese are cranking out math and science wizards and we're wasting our money on this bullshit. Why do you think we have to import all of these foreigners for tech jobs?

Gender Studies departments should basically teach 1-2 100 and 200 level courses for people to get their electives, and have maybe 5-10 TOTAL people studying further to get actual degrees in the field, maybe less.

A Liberal Arts degree used to be respected because a classical education taught critical thinking, analysis of historical events, and expansion of ideas based on classical cultures and philosophies.

Now said degrees basically show you can regurgitate the same wokespeak as your professor back to them.

Meanwhile back in reality, the UW football coaching staff made over a million dollars in salary alone last year....not counting the money it took to run the program which was conservatively in the tens of millions of dollars.

Its convenient to single out something like "gender studies" while ignoring the excesses elsewhere.

We should spend more monies on STEM, you're right. We should spend zero public monies on college sports.

At least college sports give some guys and girls a chance to get an education, and selects those with athletic talents as opposed to intellectual ones, who get separate scholarships.

Nothing wrong with the college coach being the highest paid person in the State, especially in States without a real pro sports presence. That guy/gal gets paid the most because they have the hardest job in the State.
