This message is powerful and I've repeated before about Canada. When you allow a bunch of yahoo cowardly criminals to destroy your nation and it's Charter of Rights, you are pissing of the memory of REAL men who risked it all and often died before they even lived long enough to experience their first kiss. Be they in Britain, U.S or Canada, we owe them our freedom. Certainly the Brits do.

So when Trump is getting rid of illegals and protecting Judeo-Christian values and wanting only those who love the American Way into the U.S, think of this 100 year old veteran

He didn't fight for his freedom, he fought because Britain decided to use Germany's invasion of Poland to contain Germany, as best I can tell.

My father fought because all his friends were.

You would prefer that Nazi Germany rule the world?

The US certainly did, for years, while we spent blood and treasure in pitched battles protecting it from the fascist threat.

I prefer that people recognise reality rather than live their fantasies.
Confront your own fantasies rather than attacking the Greatest Generation

Don't forget what we were fighting against, Fascist and racists, many of the men fighting against the Nazis and Japanese Imperialists were from the very communities who are the target now in the UK of the racists, men from the Commonwealth Countries India , West Indies etc.

Dont paint with such a broad brush

There were isolationists in America and Britian

But in the end both nations did the right thing

Don't know about the US but some of the elite were Nazi sympathisers others were the British Union of Fascist led by Oswald Mosley, now i doubt my Dad and his Brother were very political or aware of the International big picture, but they probably knew something was not quite right and volunteered for the Military when we declared War on Nazi Germany, Dad went to the army in 1939 although it was a long time before he saw any action, his Brother was too young and was rejected until he was 18.

It was Britain’s finest hour

Some say that, all i know is we made the right call, what i find shocking is how many young people know very little about that time even though they will have family members who were part of it.
For once we are in agreement.

Several German towns have canceled their traditional Christmas markets this year, pointing to the mounting costs of new security requirements introduced after a series of terror attacks. Local organizers argue that they are unable to comply with the government’s anti-terror measures, such as installing barriers, setting up surveillance systems, and posting additional guards, all of which have become prerequisites for hosting public events.

In Overath, a town of 27,000 in North Rhine-Westphalia, the stalls will remain closed this year. The local festival association says it cannot afford the necessary counter-terrorism measures on its own, yet the local government refuses to contribute financially, according to Rheinische Post. For the past year and a half, the association has been in talks with the town’s administration regarding who will cover the costs of the necessary security measures, the newspaper quotes Andreas Koschmann, chairman of the Overath marketing association.

Well, the UK gets the Tories in power a lot, who then steal all the money. Then the Tory media will blame Labour for it all.

He might be right but WW2 vets are a dying breed and his 90 year old opinion might not be valid for anything but political discourse.

I think there is a lot in that, all my Dads boyhood friends who all lived in the same area all joined up more or less at the same time, i was close to some of them growing up in the same neigbourhood one had been a POW of the Japs another of the Germans but as far as i know they all made it home to the streets i knew growing up, the one who was a POW of the Japs his family lived over the road from us Dad said he was in the Scots Guards and a healthy 6ft sporty lad before the war he came back half his body weight and a wreck but he did recover at least physically, but as you say joined up because his mates did.
