Wow this sucks. JJ MacCarthy is out for the season after one pre-season game.

Torn miniscus in the first pre-season game. Sheesh sometimes the game is just cruel. The only good thing is that type of injury is not as serious as other types of knee injuries.

We need Jordan Love to get hurt too. I'm a Lion's fan.

I’m surprised he’s out for the season. I know there are two different surgeries for a torn meniscus.

  • Arthroscopic partial meniscectomy. Your doctor will remove a piece of the torn meniscus so your knee can function normally.
  • Arthroscopic total meniscectomy. During this procedure, your doctor will remove the whole meniscus.

It all depends on how bad it was injured. Clearly, if what was reported in this thread is true, it's severe.

I'm a Michigan fan, and while I like what JJ could do for us, I wasn't sold he'd be a sure-fire NFL QB prospect.

1. He didn't throw a lot, and that matters. QB's have to develop by being the reason you win or lose a game, being the absolute reason you come back, or getting caught in shootouts where you're shredding defenses when you need to. Michigan ran a run first, pretty basic offensive.
2. He threw a laser, tight ball, but he wasn't convincingly accurate (not that it can't be polished)

I'll say this, he had a knack for making big plays when you needed them, and that's something you can't teach. If you have that, the rest can be molded (a la Tom Brady). Scouts get paid a lot, and he went top 10 in the draft. I don't know, we'll have to see him play next year to see how things go.
