There are several members on here who can't stand either the Republican party or the Democrat party, AKA the duopoly. They will vote for pretty much anyone and everyone, John Smith, Jane Doe, or even Bozo the clown - anyone who doesn't have an R or a D next to their name on the ballot. They are always stating that we just need to man up or woman up and have the courage to vote for someone other than that duopoly if we really want to get rid of them and get rid of the status quo. So, my question aimed mostly at the duopoly haters is, if Harris was on the Democrat ticket in 2024 and somone else was nominated for the Republican ticket other than Trump, and Trump ran third party or independent, would you have voted for Trump to get rid of the duopoly? While I'm mostly interested in seeing how the duopoly haters would vote, the poll is open to everyone. It's a public poll so we will be able to weed out who's who.

Both parties suck. I vote for the candidate, not the party. We need to stop voting for the party.
I used to agree with that but we have reached a point where you can't really look at the candidates for the dems and the candidates for the pubs and have to study on it and give some serious thought into which one you want to vote for. They have become polar opposites, with about zero being anywhere close to the middle.

The bad part about third parties/independents is that none of them are really viable candidates. You can't win an election if the best you've got is, "Don't vote for the other person". That's kind of the reason for this thread. I was wondering how many would have voted for Trump if he weren't the Republican nominee. He would have had the best shot at it since Ross Perot but Perot got 20% of the vote and a grand total of zero electoral votes.

The answer to your question is not possible without knowing who that third party ran in the election.

Better than another slanted poll, why not the same question on Musk?

And for Dog sake, make the choices either a simple yes or no.

Those with the intelligence better than a garden slug will add an explanation.

Those with less will 'react'.

Ooops. I didn't realize Musk was president or had run or is even considering running.

I vote for the best available candidate who has a chance to be effective in the role for the issues about which I feel the most urgent need.

So I voted “probably.”

I suppose it’s possible that someone else (a Republican) could do the job; but, frankly, with Trump as an opponent, I can’t imagine who.

My big caveat would be if I thought that voting for a 3P candidate might effectively put a moron Democrat candidate into the win column. In that case I might have to just vote for the most likely candidate to defeat the travesty of another Dim Administration.

No. I didn’t vote for him as a Republican, and I wouldn’t have voted for him under a third party banner.

I think the bigger question is… If he’d run third party, would people have voted for whoever the Republican candidate was?

Would you have voted for Biden if democrats and their minions in the media were honest about his mental health? Would you have voted for Obama if it was proved that he was actually born in Nigeria? Would you have taken back your vote for dying FDR who ran for a 4th term if the media was honest at the time? So many scenarios and so little time.
