The OP has some neat stats on gun violence similarities in the northern US and Canada vs gun violence in the Southern US but in general its safe to say in the civilized world where guns are illegal there are fewer guns on the street. Japan has kept the Yakuza from using guns by implementing 10 year prison sentences for simply being caught with an illegal gun...our repeat gun offenders continue to get out on bail, and get sentences of less than 3 years...hence our problem with criminals.

You could remove every one of the 300 million guns in the US and make it illegal to have possession and the criminals will still get all they want. The black market would be the same as for drugs.

By taking away our Constitutional rights to keep and bear arms it would only prevent law abiding people from own the ability to protect themselves, like the woman in the video.
