Anxious Trading Partners Promise to Buy American to Stave Off Trump’s Tariffs

Vietnam, which has a surplus of more than $120 billion with the U.S. and saw tariffs on its goods rise to 46% on “Liberation Day,” shows how anxious countries are to stave off the duties. It recently closed a $300 million financing deal to buy a fleet of new Boeing jets. It pushed through the authorization of Starlink, the satellite internet service owned by Elon Musk, a close Trump adviser. And it accelerated the approvals for a $1.5 billion Trump resort.

The Emoluments Clause, which....... prohibits federal officials, including the president, from accepting gifts, titles, or emoluments from foreign governments without the consent of Congress........was put in place for a reason. A grifter like trump is the reason.

Just to counter the dishonest reporting here:
1. Starlink can provide remote internet service from the remotest areas and ships that no other company in the world can provide.
2. The Trump resort deal was signed before the election of 2024.. January 10, 2025, the Trump Organization agreed to not accept any government contracts while Trump was in office.
3. Trump doesn't run the Trump Organization while he's president. Like during his first term, he turned over stewardship to his son, Eric.
4. The Trump Organization lost $2 billion during Trump's first term. Unlike leftwing polilticians who become wealthy during their terms, Trump actually sacrifices his wealth for the benefit of the country.

It's never as these leftwingers claim.

Fox was sued for hundreds of billions for liable. Seems like these should also be sued as well by the Trump organization.

Believing that puts you in the category of a rube who just fell off the turnip truck.

“It’s laughable that the left-wing media thinks that I should lock myself in a padded room while my father is president and cease doing what I’ve been doing for over 25 years to earn a living and provide for my five children,” Donald Trump Jr. said in a statement to The Times. “However, if I did do that, I guess I could always take up painting, which I hear can be quite lucrative.”

Indeed, relatives of other presidents — including Billy Carter (brother of President Jimmy Carter) and Neil Bush (brother of President George W. Bush), along with Hunter Biden — have had business dealings that have created questions about potential conflicts of interest.

What distinguishes the work of Mr. Trump’s two sons is that several of these ventures, including the real estate deals and crypto efforts, bring revenues that benefit the president himself as well.

Do you think Donnie J and Eric know if their dad was not the remarkably talented con man he is they'd be selling used cars in Jersey?

Here's the thing. Leftwing politicians are so inept at everything, they obviously wouldn't own businesses prior to entering office. They make their wealth FROM the office. So therefore it's easy for them to take shots at highly successful businessmen like Trump and Musk whose empires are so vast, there HAS to be interlap between their empires and the federal government. So to say everything should be totally divested from government is just ludicrous.

The left has put forth the idea that expertise in the private sector is somehow a liability for a politician. A favorite is "We can't have oil men making energy policy". Well who the hell better understands the energy industry than key people in the energy industry. The left thinks politicians and leftist university professors should make all policy.

A classic example of leftist ineptitude was 0bama's "Jobs Bill" of 2009. Cost taxpayers billions. The key people were NOT businessmen, but instead politicians and leftwing college professors: Result: Didn't create jobs, but cost taxpayers dearly. Contrast this with Trump's SUCCESSFUL job creation efforts. No professors. No think tanks. No taxpayer expense. Just remove impediments, enact smart policy and watch the result roll in.

Trump Crypto Deals Provoke Senate Backlash and Calls for Investigation

Senate Democrats are demanding changes to cryptocurrency legislation pending in Congress, responding partly to growing evidence that the Trump family is using its connections and President Trump’s power to profit from crypto trading.

The pushback intensified late last week after a closed-door meeting among Senate Democrats in which Senator Chuck Schumer, the Democratic leader, told colleagues they should not commit to voting for the so-called GENIUS Act, a bill backed by the crypto industry.

For months, the bill had appeared to be gliding toward passage, with support from both parties, and it was scheduled for a procedural vote this week. But in the meeting, Senate Democrats expressed concern that the legislation would directly benefit the Trump family’s crypto business, citing reporting by The New York Times.

Among the concerns the senators raised, according to lawmakers, is that the Trump-affiliated crypto firm, World Liberty Financial, recently secured a deal to take $2 billion in deposits from an Emirati venture fund backed by the government of Abu Dhabi, as The Times reported last week.

As is my habit, I respond to gratuitous insults with more fact based evidence your position is indefensible.

Let me get this straight, a bill backed by the crypto industry, that was "gliding towards passage" all the sudden isn't because it might also benefit a company that is affliated with Trump?

Talk about corruption, the dems once again, are putting their party before country
