When the Bible mentions wine, it is mostly in praise of wine.
Jesus himself drank wine.

why then are some Christians opposed to alcohol?

Maybe there’re just Christian’s who also happen to be against alcohol.

It’s possible to be those two things with no relation to one another

They still think its for washing their feet.

Many of you know the Bible better than I do.
Maybe they can bring some biblical quotes pro and contra wine.
Ephesians 5:18
Verse Concepts
And do not get drunk with wine, for that is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit,

1 Timothy 5:23
Verse Concepts
No longer drink water exclusively, but use a little wine for the sake of your stomach and your frequent ailments.

Romans 14:21
Verse Concepts

It is good not to eat meat or to drink wine, or to do anything by which your brother stumbles.

Those three verses are all ya need to know.

Can you put them together to make sense of it?

And of course, Jesus turned water into wine as his first miracle.

So everybody can choose what they like best. 😎

And of course, Jesus turned water into wine as his first miracle.
The miracle had nothing whatever to do with water or wine. His last "miracle" was turning wine into blood. Which also had nothing to do with wine or blood. Jesus also said that he came to bring a sword but didn't carry one.

HOW CAN ALL OF THIS BE RESOLVED?

"Take from my hand this cup of fiery wine and make all the nations to whom I send you drink it. When they have drunk it they will vomit and go mad; such is the sword that I am sending among them." Jeremiah 25:15

"From his mouth there went a sharp sword WITH WHICH TO SMITE THE NATIONS."

"Take this cup of wine and drink it, all of you. This is a cup of my blood, the blood of the covenant."

"Just art thou, in these thy judgments, thou Holy One who art and wast. For they shed the blood of thy people and of thy prophets and thou hast given them blood to drink."

He who leads into captivity shall go into captivity; he who lives by the sword shall die by the sword.

The sword Jesus was sent by God to run through the nations is a curse under the appearance of a cup of wine.

:wine:

Apparently, it still works like a charm!

Wine is a mocker and strong drink is raging. Whosoever is deceived thereby is not widset.

Then there's texts that tell us to be sober.

Scripture doesn't promote wine or any form of alcohol.

Americans do.

To be personally opposed to alcohol/wine as a Christian is fine. If that's your conviction, that's your conviction. But there is no Scriptural support to prohibit Christians from drinking wine. It's legalism to insist that's true.

Right, if you're addicted or get drunk

Jesus drank wine. Was that a sin for Him?
