Windows XP

It's the fact that a lot of PROPRIETARY software doesn't work right on later systems. I've got 8 machines holding various science/engineering tools and MOST of them aren't even on the internet. I have to run tools for clients that were written 12 or 15 years ago. Investment in those tools is over $60K..

AND a lot of plug-in hardware which is the OTHER problem. Back in the days (like 2 decade ago) folks used to not only proprietary code -- but they would put CUSTOM design hardware in the chassis as well. So the cost to redo all that with the newer CHEESY MS tools is astronomical if not impossible.

OP probably saw a bunch of dedicated machines that are only meant to perform VERY SPECIFIC tasks.

You can, as noted earlier, revert back to Windows 7 if you do so within a month. Also you can download to a USB stick a clean install version of Windows 10 which will allow you to completely format your hard drive and install Windows 10 clean as if you had a Windows 10 DVD. Windows XP is not supported and Windows 7 is soon to follow.

I agree XP was by far the best version of Windows. I hated to see it go. But Windows 10 appears to run quite well. I had resisted upgrading as well up until about two months ago but so far it is golden. They changed where some things are and the look so it will take a while to get used to where everything is.
