PBS so far appears only willing to complain about it:
But their approach is a feigned concern for people in lightly populated areas. They talk about how important they are for people to keep informed.
No mention of contemplating making changes
NPR takes a similar approach but in an even more outlandish way:
In a statement immediately after the vote, NPR CEO Katherine Maher said: "Nearly 3-in-4 Americans say they rely on their public radio stations for alerts and news for their public safety," adding, "We call on the House of Representatives to reject this elimination of public media funding, which directly harms their communities and constituents, and could very well place lives at risk."
"Lives at risk?" Again with that?
"3-in-4 Americans?" Anyone on here seriously believe that? I doubt that 3-in-100 Americans could tell you where NPR is on their local radio dial.
No word from either of why they lost their funding and what they could do differently.
Probably for the best. Any changes would be insincere, and very, very temporary.
I don't know if they even can change. They may be so deluded that they are middle of the road that they may not understand how they come off to normal people.
