you're so cute when you're hopeful.

With hundreds of billions going to ukraine...you don't thunk half of that is going right back to democrats?

85 billion in military equipment abandoned in afghanistan...you don't think biden got a dump truck of money for that?

300,000 Americans killed and the borders are still wide open? You don't think democrats are getting a percentage from the mex-drug-lords?

Follow the money and it shall be proven (in court).

Now would be a good time to invest in rope manufacturers.

I'm making great points and you are creating a straw man.
No you're not.

"He gets stuff done"

So what? Every CEO "gets stuff done".

Like, gutting Twitter and destroying its stock value?

You're not making any good points. And you are a thousand miles away from arguing why Musk would be any good at anything in government, ever.

But this is all you have. And you just had to make that up in the spot.

Kinda says it all.

With Musk's new role to reduce government and red tape, do you think America's national debt will finally come down?

We can say this:
  1. You don't get to be the richest man in the world without knowing how to manage money.
  2. You don't create a company like SpaceX which has TROUNCED NASA and Boeing Aerospace with a fraction of the time, personnel and budget without knowing how to run a business.
  3. If Musk can apply even a FRACTION of that know how to the Fed, it has to result in positive changes.

I have worked in government, and I know how much fraud, waste, and abuse are present. Staffing could be cut by 25%, and if done judiciously, no citizen would see any difference. It could be cut by half while meeting all of the Federal government's obligations under the Constitution.

But this won't happen. The best that can be done is to curb to constantly increasing spending, cut a few programs, impose a hiring freeze for a year or so, and REDUCE THE CURRENT-YEAR DEFICIT. Cutting the National Debt would require a budget surplus - the government equivalent of walking on water.

It will be fun to watch. Musk will want to slash whole departments, and will quit in frustration within 120 days. Although he has hinted that he personally would be willing to offer multi-year salary continuation to those that are cut, which might make things more palatable.

The real danger is what happened under Reagan. He cut a lot of jobs, then the Deep State hired the same people as "Consultants" at three times the price to do the same job, and eventually those positions were again filled with GS employees.

No. I do think 2/3 is going to US defense companies. I didn't bother to read to rest of your rant.

Nope. It would be nearly impossible to do so while imposing tariffs and handing out tax cuts unless you went all Weimar Republic on the US dollar. He won't even have a balanced budget, let alone a surplus. I am sure they will invent some fantasy 100 year projection or some nonsense to say otherwise, but even if they were to completely eliminate the entire Department of Defense, they still wouldn't have enough to cover just the interest on the national debt at this point.

How much would the government save scrapping the climate hoax? If you reduced your military budget by 85%, the US would still have the largest military budget in the world. Stop feeling the need to save everyone from imaginary scenarios with your military and get your debt down.

If it were for 'saving' anyone. Exporting wars and chaos for the benefit of American ruling elite. That is all.

1) Stop asking/expecting the US to save your asses then; 2) Spend your own money; 3) nothing in your response even addresses that it would be impossible to reduce the debt when we couldn't even balance the budget; and 4) we spend about $6B a year on that "hoax" which is little more than a rounding error in the US federal budget of $6.1 Trillion.

1) We don't, your bravado thinks we do, it's one of the American clichés. 2) We do spend our own money, look into our own national debt compared to history. 3) Reduce government spending, reduce government size. 4) you need to recheck your figures.

It is not a cliche that Europe is freaking out that Trump may cut Ukraine off.

Reducing the debt is a tall order. But what Musk and this administration could potentially do is eliminate the deficit and balance the budget. In time, the debt could steadily become reduced - or even if it were to stay the same, it would eventually reduce itself (in terms of actual value) through inflation, etc. 50 trillion dollars 100 years from now won't be the same as 50 trillion dollars now.

I hope it's not to late to get the budget balanced. We are addicted to governments spending. It will not be easy.
