NHS Wales: Will more patients go to England? It's unclear

Political editor Gareth Lewis spells out the confusion over a Labour plan to reduce waiting times.

You might well be confused as to what Labour’s plan for cross-border NHS co-operation actually involves.

It was first announced by Secretary of State for Wales Jo Stevens and Wales’ First Minister Eluned Morgan at Labour’s conference in Liverpool last month.

In an interview with BBC Wales, Stevens pushed hard on the idea of Welsh patients crossing the border for surgery.

Sharing best practice between the two health services was also part of the plan.

The goal: to try to bring down Wales’ record NHS waiting lists.


NHS is a devolved matter, Wales running their own. Looks like they're gonna have to rely on England's NHS to sort out their mess!!

Just imagine a crowd of Tommy Titheads all speaking in high pitched tones and none of them listening .
Just babbling like a kettle with no Off switch and producing hot air non stop .

Now you have all visited Wales .

They even could not make useful piles of dirt when they were all digging coal out of the ground . The mounds just stood there doing nothing other than occasionally collapsing and killing people .
