Will many government employees quit or retire rather than show up at the office every day?

Workers have changed after COVID

They realize that commuting to an office is not necessary and working from home is just as effective.

Employers who want to attract the best employees will offer remote work

Does your mail get delivered...are your tax returns being processed?
The USPS has turned into a black hole of funding and was structured to be self funding, like the ss system. It was never meant to be a jobs program primarily to create a fiefdom. Tax returns being sent out? Sure, but where and who do they go to? There needs to be some sort of oversight. You didn't ask is our military not doing good shit all over the world, or are there not enough illegals where you live? USPS reports $9.5B net loss in FY 2024, does not expect to hit ‘break even’ goal next year

in a way?....
Well it has to be done to survive right? american workers spend alot of time working. That is not something "exceptional,", however. People are tired, burnt out, stressed, anxious, the list goes on. Something is amiss.

yea maybe they have a job they dont like....you know the solution to that dont you?...

they did it before the covid shit they can do it again...
We know that

But they have become comfortable sleeping in till 9:30 every morning and lounging around in their pajamas all day

The rush hour traffic thing is utter stupidity. Millions upon millions rushing off to work already frazzled before the day starts. They are slaves in a sense. And we call this "great". Whatever.
Aint life a bitch?

Non government employees manage to do it

I'm not sure why you think having all the people who know what they are doing quit is a great idea.
Because what they know is how to look busy while being sound asleep

A lot of private sector folks worked from home and it was just fine.

Frankly, we should be doing more of it. It reduced gasoline consumption.
Its more like not working

Something Amazon has discovered as Bezos orders everyone back into the office

They're much more likely to quit or retire because of the constant bizarre harassment. Can't say I blame them.
Being told to come to the office long after the rest of the working world has returned to the office is harassment? Being held accountable as to how you spent your time and resources and what you accomplished is harassment?

The American taxpayer gets up everyday, reports to work, reports how they spent their time, and they are held accountable for their results.

It’s not harassment. It’s accountability.

Yep I did it for 42 years. I truly regret the hard work I did to help the companies i worked for. I surely didn't owe them the loyalty.

Few if any park rangers, letter carriers, VA nurses etc...have any "unearned advantages" you moron.

They have "presence jobs"

They have to show up to work every day because part of their job is having to be onsite, like my job requires.

The complaints are about the office types who think they don't need to go to the office.

I think having to wake up every morning a fight rush our traffic to the office again may prove too much for some of them

Particularly the ones who can retire
Yes. I know several government employees who are in the mid to late 60s, and had told me earlier (before DOGE) that the reason they DON’T retire is they earn a lot of money (ranging from $150k to $180k) and are required to put in so little effort. They log in the morning from home, put in a few hours, and then have the rest of the day off.

I haven’t asked all of them, but two I know - one 69 and one 68 - told me they would retire if they had to commute downtown and work full days.
