I believe there are several different species in our universe. I also believe that several have
located and visited us.....for centuries. I also believe that some of those are hostile towards us,
and others are protecting us from the others. I do believe that President Eisenhower did have
a meeting with one of the species. I would have liked to have been a fly on the wall listening to that.

I don't think an interstellar civilization is in need of food. Our only possible value to them would be to study us, like going on safari. Interacting with us would only ruin that value. That is why I think they may already be here.

Studying involves interaction. We LOVE going to uncontacted tribes to try and communicate with them. Aliens would be no different.

We are too far away for them to invade us. Its one thing to send a scout or research ship to check things out, but sending an army is entirely a different story. Also, the odds of our planet even being a hospitable environment for them is astronomically small.

On a side note, everyone thinks that aliens would far exceed our technology, and if they made it to our planet that is certainly true when it comes to space travel, but there is almost no chance that they developed nuclear weapons, and they would certainly not have shields that make our nukes harmless. They may not even have plutonium or uranium on their planet, and even if they did, they arent automatically destined to invent everything that humans have invented.

We could really fuck aliens up if they started war here. They would not expect our unusual science of splitting an atom with radioactive fuel, and we arent lighting off nukes all the time for them to even observe that we have them. It would be a total surprise to their alien army.

Offhand just by looking at how some groups of humans treat the rest of humanity so badly that no, if people can treat people so badly, then I cannot expect too much from some alien race able to travel here from another star.

Mind you, it is no cheap nor easy feat to come all this way, so they surely didn't do it just to say Hi.

I believe they would be just as curious about us as we are about them. Why start a war with humans just because aliens discovered that they existed? Its a waste of time and resources. They would almost certainly prefer to learn as much as they could from us. I dont give a shit how advanced they are, humans can teach them MANY things that they would find useful.

Humans have evolved extraordinarily more compassionate over time. Even our punishment of wrong doers have to follow guidelines. If it takes us another 1,000 years to travel around we’ll be better than we are, not worse. I think.

Curious? I expect that we would be far from the only populated world they had encountered, so far past curiosity.

No war is possible. Any race able to come here from another star has as much power over us as we do a herd of cattle. Mankind presently cannot even nudge an errant bolder out of our way much less repel an invading race from another star.

They would almost certainly prefer to learn as much as they could from us.

I'm not so sure what they could learn from us as they are likely thousands of years ahead of us in technology. And I suspect they already pretty much know all they need to know about us before even getting here from radio and TV communications.
