Why some Christians are incompatible with a free society

While not all Christians interpret the Bible in the same way, if a Christian interprets parts of the Bible, particularly the Old Testament, literally, then I would argue that they are incompatible with our free society and our Constitution.

America is a nation where, for example, men and women have equal rights and freedoms under the law.

The government of the Biblical Old Testament, however, is an authoritarian, theocratic government in which rights and freedoms in our contemporary sense did not exist. It allowed for the owning of slaves, for example, or the stoning to death of people who worked on the Sabbath.

Not all Christians or Jews believe that the laws of the Old Testament, such as Jewish dietary laws, should be literally applied into modern times (similar to how not all Muslims believe that Sharia Law should be literally applied into modern times), however, if they do, then their beliefs are incompatible with America, free societies, and our Constitution, and would be better off suited to an authoritarian, 3rd world country, such as Saudi Arabia, Iran, or North Korea.

Interesting.

But........the Constitution is not a "rock solid" word for word document of how it should be.

The Constitution is a framework of how the basics of a Republic society should function.

And we all know theres TONS of "give and take" in all societies, in all laws, and all places on this planet. Nothing is absolute.

And like interpreting the bible.............there are many ways to interpret the Constitution as well. Which is why we have different political parties or factions.
