Why is meat refereed to as "Protein" now?

My neighbor just did that last night.

He said "You should never eat protein. I don't eat protein, I eat eggs".

And I replied, "But eggs have a lot of protein. Egg whites are all protein."

Then he did it again, he said "That's why you don't need to eat protein. Plenty of other foods have protein."

I don't think he realizes what he's saying. And he wasn't drunk either.
