1. if an alien race had that technologie, to get recources it would be much easier to harvest the asteroid belt and the far out planetoids beyond pluto, for recources planets are too much bother
2. an agressive alien race would want to anhilate humanity and destroy all life on earth. but that would be a target in itself, and not combined with harvesting recources.
