This woman is why I pray for peace.

Not for a win for political leaders, not for a win for political pundits and activists.

But a win for a simple woman like this. Palestinian or Israeli. And boy oh boy, she's my kinda gardener. I use everything I can find as well. Luckily in my life I'm blessed that it's coffee cans not used tear gas canisters.

Good thread, thanks. Peace is possible.

I believe that Israelis, Palestinians, and everyone else want the same things. What country you live in, your color, your religion does not matter. They want a nice home, good schools, good opportunities, and most of all peace.

It is when these things are denied to people by others that there is conflict.

There will never be peace in Palestine until one side is destroyed. Neither side is willing to do what is necessary for such peace, if they did there would have been peace decades ago. Both are dug in now.

Unfortunately, that is probably true.

The map to peace is laid out in international law. Until the world decides to enforce international law there will be no peace.

Thats very creative but how is that hope for peace?

Tinydancer, is praying for hope and peace, for humankind. It is on her mind and in her heart and I wish for those same things. Humanity is one tribe, and love, life and hope, are forever, for most people not in charge of their destiny.

That is true about most people and their destiny. I wonder how many more innocent people will be murdered in the Sudan, in Pakistan, in Iraq, in Yemen, Nigeria, etc. by the peace-loving Muslims. Maybe Tinnie (since he liked Athena's post) can tell us when the Muslims will be tolerant toward non Muslims and Muslims of different sects. Sad, isn't it, Tinnie, that the Ahmadi Muslims say they only feel safe in America. As for peace between the Israelis and Palistinians, perhaps if the Palestinians change their charters about destroying Israel and are willing to accept Israel as a country, then there might be peace. However, look at Tinnie, he can't seem to accept that there is a Palestine Authority in the West Bank running things because he thinks that Hamas should be running the entire show in the area.

Arab roots in Filistan are as deep as Jews; their steadfastness in the face of Zionist aggression over the past century is represented by the...

"Sumud (Arabic: صمود*) meaning "steadfastness"[1] or 'steadfast perseverance' is an ideological theme and political strategy that first emerged among the Palestinian people through the experience of the dialectic of oppression and resistance in the wake of the Six-day war.[2]

"Those who are steadfast, that is those who exhibit sumud, are referred to as samidin, the singular forms of which are samid (m.) and samida (f.).

"With the passing of the years since 1967, Palestinians have distinguished between two main forms of sumud. The first, static sumud, is more passive and is defined by Ibrahim Dhahak as the 'maintenance of Palestinians on their land.'

"The second, resistance sumud (in Arabic, sumud muqawim) is a more dynamic ideology whose aim is to seek ways of building alternative institutions so as to resist and undermine the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories.[2]

"The ultimate symbol associated with the concept of sumud and the Palestinian sense of rootedness in the land is the olive tree, ubiquitous throughout Palestine.[3] Another icon of sumud that has often been portrayed in Palestinian artwork is that of the mother, and more specifically, a peasant woman depicted as when with child.[4]"

Jews were on the right side of history during the Holocaust, but they are on the wrong side today in Palestine. Given the younger generation of Israeli Jews's support for annexing 60% of the West Bank, it's likely Americans will soon face a choice between supporting a Jewish state over a democratic one.

Im starting to give up hope on the 2-state solution.

Indeed, the two state solution (A euphemism for the old partition plan) has been on the table since 1937. It is farther away from reality now than it was back then.

Those Arabs simply won't stop attacking the Jews.

Those Jews simply will not allow the Arabs go back home.
All them Arabs need to do is take a bus or train to the nearest border, walk thru the gate and they're home! Free at last!!

All that is needed to allow for the Palestinians and the Israelis to have peace, is to have the ancestor of Ghangis Khan re-invade the area.
