I respect Andrew Jackson. He as a child stood up for our country against the British during the American Revolution.

And then defended it again numerous times like in the war of 1812.

Yes he was a man of his Time, but there’s a lot about him Perhaps that people don’t know ie adopting a Native American child. It continues to be mind-boggling and the ultimate hypocrisy that there are even Americans who don’t like Andrew Jackson. That is really something that is quite unique to America…. as there were other world leaders of the 19th century such as in Africa or other parts of the world who owned slaves, who engaged in expansionism but are rightly respected in their own countries. And actually a lot of people from all walks of life respect Andrew Jackson. It’s really mostly left-wing white people who can’t stand the guy for the dumbest of reasons

Mine is a mockery of lincoln getting assassinated. We should all use this avatar. It was a great day in American history.

I like Mel Gibson's acting ability. He also played a Scotsman in "Braveheart." I'm also aligned with much of his ideology. There've been times when he wasn't afraid to "say it like it is."

As for the particular image I chose -- I simply like the black & white with a touch of red. Sort of iconic, in my opinion.

Let’s be honest, the majority of Americans have only the vaguest knowledge of who he even was

Because some people suck and need a smack to the back of their head.

Distractingly violent and historically dodgy.
