Remember back in 2015 when Trump announced his running, all of these people and many more top experts in conservative politics declared that Trump was not even a serious candidate and would soon be pulling out--- it was just a /stunt/ after all:

Karl Rove
Kayleigh McEnany
Ted Cruz
Jeb Bush
Billy Kristol
George Will
Brent Scowcroft

Trump was likened to a rodeo clown in for a little fun and quick attention before admitting he really wasn't serious! Then, he would never get the nomination! Finally, most of these people went so far--- as the brain trust of the GOP--- to even declare they would sooner vote for Hillary, or Kamala, than Donald Trump!

But Trump won, and to this day, some still don't get it including George Will who LEFT the GOP over Donald Trump!

Even this season, the political expert Will maintained that: Trump's act has seen better days.
“He’s been nominated three consecutive times by the Republican Party. Never happened before. He’s been the center of American politics for more than nine years, and it’s beginning, some people think, to get stale,” Will told NewsNation’s “On Balance.”

That's it George! Trump is STALE! That is why he just won 312 EC votes and all 7 swing states and the popular vote! :laughing0301:

Could it be George that you just don't know crap, your barometer is bent, and you should just hang up your hat as a washed up old useless fuddy duddy?
George Will is like a bitter old man sitting on an empty side street continually declaring the whole country wrong, a bunch of deadheads, and that the parade took the wrong route and was supposed to go down his route, rather than just admit he's the one who has become irrelevant.

"For this reason alone, Trump has a better chance of cameo-ing in another “Home Alone” movie with Macaulay Culkin—or playing in the NBA Finals — than winning the Republican nomination." :auiqs.jpg:

These idiots don't get it. Trump is the anti-matter breaking every rule in every book they have ever read--- The old guard GOP is worse than the democrats. At least the democrats KNOW they just don't want Trump. These idiots in the old GOP don't even think Trump has a chance! Even as he continually sets new levels of success. These idiots are still sitting in the back of a broken down old bus waving Bob Dole and John McCain flags declaring themselves the REAL conservative voices, sitting still, unchanging, rather the losers in everything than the winner in anything. These people represent a failed old GOP party this country is far better off getting shed of--- while they all sat around feeling noble about themselves for years, their GOP had totally failed to preserve the very principles that they were supposed to represent because they simply failed to reach a changing demographic.

Elitism and class warfare, same reason the DNC invented their 'Super Delegate Rule'. The technocrats hate those filthy proles, regardless of party, and they think they know best. despite all the evidence to the contrary. See F. A. Hayek's The Fatal Conceit on why their vanity is doomed to fail and they require massive bailouts every few years while they have their useful idiots sniveling about Social Security and food stamps and minimum wage floors being the problem.

After W's deciet and lies, Obama was a given and the GOP thought that after his first FUBAR term they could slip another RINO in the in the form of Romney in there and start the process of lies, deceit, and bailouts all over again.

I remember going to the polls and feeling very downcast having to vote for that POS Romney....It was the saddest election day line I stood in since Bob Dole. Talk about voting for the "lesser of two weevils". Jeez.

Contrast that to election day when Trump first ran, everyone was upbeat and happy. Almost a party atmosphere with a smile on every face.

Of course then the dems cheated us out of a real election day and now it's an election month and a half here in Virginia.

What did they get wrong?

They never realized we hate them only this|much less than we hate the Democrats.

That the weary, stiff-necked, stuffed shirt Will is still employed as a "conservative" (whatever the hell that's supposed to mean anymore) pundit, is truly mind boggling.
He always rubbed me the wrong way back when he was a panelist on the Brinkley show, and now I understand why.

Oh, Will is a smart enough guy who I used to listen to, but when he got viscerally irked at the idea of Trump running much less succeeding, got all of the predictions wrong, got all of the reasons wrong, then started to blame the voters instead of own yardstick, holding conservatism as this polished shield of purity that must not waver or bend even the slightest no matter how out of touch or losing it was, I stopped caring about the guy.

And he is still at it! He still somehow thinks that he is the indelible standard for what a conservative must be! I imagine that George must now sit around in a room with three other stiff-necked thistle-heads just like him telling himself that he is one of the last true republicans left on the planet somehow feeling self-important about it.

He has always been smart, no argument there....But there was always a whiff of insider smugness that never passed my smell test.

He has admitted as much. Even now, he admits that much of his TDS is based on the fact that Trump doesn't "talk and act" presidential, as if it were some role on a stage. The Left have been ruthless to Trump yet Trump is somehow wrong to call some of them fitting names and acting like a real person instead of a hoity-toity elitist like Will.

Maybe there has never been a president who acted like Trump but neither has any president ever been talked to or treated with such disrespect.

I get Will now OB--- the problem that he has is that Trump doesn't act the elitist, well-bred snob that Will is! So how can he remain a republican or support Trump no matter how efficacious his policies for the nation? To do so would be to impugn his own character as a snooty intellectual. To Will, being a good republican conservative isn't about what you get done, it is about how you act.

Will is more than happy to watch the democrats run things down the drain so long as he gets to sit there on his sofa on the sideline feeling superior about himself above the fray.

You get what you give.
