Teams in the NFL don't need problem childs. They need players that do what they're told and don't constantly try to draw attention to themselves.
No head coach or team scout is impressed with a kid that comes off as a megalomaniac during interviews. It seemed that Sanders was trying to tell them how things were going to go. His false-bravado really rubbed teams the wrong way. So nobody wanted to risk a first round pick, or even a second or third round pick on a kid that they feel will become another Ryan Leaf.
Jamaal Fire-alarm Bowman, (a former US congressional representative) said that teams were being racist for not picking Sanders in the first round. No, they weren't being racist. They were being prudent. They don't care what race the kid is if he's going to become a problem for the team.

Jamaal Bowman Blasts NFL After Shedeur Sanders Falls in the NFL Draft
Former Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) criticized the NFL after Shedeur Sanders, fell out of the first round of the NFL Draft.

In a video posted to X, Bowman claimed that the “NFL doesn’t like” Shedeur” because of how he dresses, and “talks like a rapper.” Bowman noted ways that Shedeur was skilled, compared to other NFL players who have been unable to play their positions. Bowman admitted that he takes it “personal” seeing someone like “slip in the draft” due to the way he talks, dresses, and who is father is.
