Why can't we get space adventure other than "Star Trek" and "Star Wars" these days?

In the 90s it was "Babylon 5". In the 2000s it was "Firefly" and the "Re-imagined Battlestar Galactica.

Why don't we have a space sci fi show that is not "Wars" or "Trek" that has hart hitting moral dilemmas and is set in a new and exciting vision of humanity's future?

Do religious and scientific themes turn viewers off?

Do today's TV viewers desire more escapist stuff considering the state of the world?

Has comic book movies made society's cultural tastes more childish?

Has society stopped dreaming of the future?

Both liberals and conservatives don't imagine humanity having much of a future?

It's difficult to fluff teenagers and college students with shows that have real meaning.
They're too busy pushing diversity and equity down our throats to spend any thought on something that is entertaining.
Most of these people feel America won't be around in 3 years....so they're just trying to make as much money as they can, while they can.
The only thing I've seen recently is "The Orville".

Barbie goes to Mars or Batman meets the green hornet on Venus may sell... but anything you have to think about won't sell today...

Because some assholes have degraded humanity. That's why.

Jesus Christ dude. You have 4 separate topics on the main page of the TV about how you think there should be a TV show about space.

Streaming services offer a variety of "space" programs.

Good Sci-Fi is expensive to produce
If you're looking for space westerns they're out there in droves but good sci-fi isn't space cowboys, it's commentary on current issues set in a futuristic environment.
Generally, today's audiences don't have the patience for the character and societal development needed for good Sci-Fi.

Loki is pretty decent.

The Expanse is a Prime Exclusive series that explores a lot of great themes that isn't a "Star Trek" or "Star Wars" revamped to be new and refreshed. It has believable plots and sub plots. Identifiable characters behaving in expected fashion with depth and consistency. It requires thought and often viewing twice to really understand all the nuances of the series.

And what is especially nice is that normal physics and politics aren't thrown out the window in order to advance the plot in a logical fashion. IOW very few plot holes.

There are many cultures mixed into the series without it making it the point of the characters existing...which is especially nice and relaxing. Some of the expected tropes about people in general are on point and brought out. Some of these tropes are going to be offensive to some people because they can be readily seen in people today...no matter how much they want to be denied.
