Who will be the Republican nominee in 2028 for POTUS and why are they a unique danger to democracy?

I am pretty sure the Dem will be Newsom.

Not sure about the Republican. They have a deep bench of conservatives who are liked by most conservatives.

The Democrats only have Newsom.

Who else are they going to run? AOC? CROCKETT?

Newsom's defining moment has arrived with the Palisades fire and he is failing

I would like a robust primary with like 10 Republican candidates.

I believe in Democracy.

The one thing the Democrats are NOT is DEMOCRATIC.

THE DEMOCRATS ARE AUTHORITARIAN.

Agreed. He is trying his best.

He is blaming OTHER Cali politicians for the homeless problem.

Apparently, Newsom just found out last week that Cali has homeless people!

😂😂😂😂😂
Homeless.
Now he's figuring out we don't have the $$$ to give 10 million illegals free healthcare.
$12 billion deficit this year
Fires

He's toast.

I only hope that Trump, unlike past republican ex-presidents and presidential nominees, is invited to the 2028 republican convention. Not that I care a bit for Trump, but it would mean America has done well and is in a fine place.

Since I don't typically pay attention to party politics, in making my picks I'll go with current governors. Plus, if I was gambling on it, I would want highly favorable odds.

Newsom is about as sleezy as they get. But considering who else could be a choice, only other possibility is if they really pull something special from their rear ends.

Look for most of the same Republicans that took the stage in 2016.

He is the perfect Dem candidate.

Absolute piece of shit liar scumbag.

There should not even be a primary. (The Dems never have a real primary anyway.)

They haven't decided how the Republican nominee will be the worst threat to democracy ever, as well as causing sunspots, baldness, poor gas mileage, uneven tire wear, dogs and cats living together and people wearing white after Labor Day. That will be decided 15 seconds after he/she is chosen.

Good possibility, although Mayor Pete may have his beard and dressed in plaid.
I would look for Rubio, Cruz, Rand Paul, Vance, and Christie for sure. Tulsie Gabbard and Lindsey Graham possibly.

Don Jr. now says he may run for President 'someday' and when pressed this week on that did not rule out 2028 with a 'You never know."

If J.D.'s approval ratings indicate he could win, I can't imaging any really serious challenges to him being the presumed heir apparent. For sure Don Jr. going against him in the primaries would really put President Trump on the spot.

Something to watch there though. If the MAGA vision, policies, agenda remains popular with the people, I'm pretty sure they will vote for whoever emerges as the 2028 candidate. If not . . .

But as you said, the GOP bench is deep, qualified, with many good people to choose from.

As for the Democrats, Newsom is pretty much damaged goods. There's always AOC though and Kamala talks like she could give it another shot.

Pathetic how thin the Democrat bench is with no competent leadership, no vision, no plan other than to take down Trump/MAGA, and an unwillingness to give up their 'woke' policies that nobody with a brain likes.

The lefties will not even name a name who they want.

It is fucking bizarre.

They have to be told what to think about everything by their communist thought police

For the GOP...

Vance? Rubio? Cruz? Noem? Abbott? Jordan?

At present, I'm guessing Vance.

-----

For the Dems...

J.B. Pritzker? Newsom? Jeffries? Harris?

At present, I'm guessing Pritzker.

------

But the Primaries are still two years away, and that's one awfully long time for people to screw-up or for scandals to unfold or drop dead or withdraw from public life or whatever, so, in truth, it's just a long-term wild-eyed guess. That's where I pack up my crystal ball. ;)

a Vance/Gabbard ticket would be pretty good. Run them against Harris/AOC.

Lather, Rinse, Repeat

They won twice with Obama, so it would follow a pattern if they went with someone apparently like him. Cory Booker comes to mind, or someone who is still not very well-known.

They also won twice with Clinton, whom Rush Limbaugh said was the most Conservative of their candidates in the primary.
