Anyway, I had a HS friend who was super smart but poor as a church mouse. They lived in a old run down farmhouse out in the county.

One day he told me he had a interview at Langley and BOOM!, he up and disappeared. I did not see him till 40-odd years later when I ran into him in town.

Of course he would not tell me exactly what he did (overseas work) but reading between the lines it was not hard to figure out.

He said he retired but still worked as a contractor. He said he lives in Great Falls, Virginia which is very high-end so he must have done OK.

I had to give him his props though, he looked after his mom and sisters because I noticed that they had moved into a really nice home in town a few years later.

In fact he was in town burying his mom.....You just never know.
