wow lots of ballplayers lately.....i have seen Whitey pitch live 6-7 times.....even was riding an elevator with him and moose skowren in a Cleveland hotel when i was a kid....he was great...

For some reason I thought he'd passed some time ago. Glad to learn that wasn't the case.

No disrespect for the greatest Country on the globe in Whitey's heart, he cut short a promising baseball career to serve in Truman's war in Korea and came back to the Yankees when they needed him. He was my idol during my schoolboy days when I was a left handed pitcher.
