White Teacher Under Fire For Singing 'Monkey' Song On Black Boy's Birthday

That doesn't answer my question.

Maybe it's changed, but it seems like all of the time in the news when black kids/teenagers commit crimes there is no father present.
The school shooters, were their fathers present?

The young man who shot your hero Charlie Kirk was his father present.

Funny when we see white kids committing crimes the father is present.

Stop learning from racist, right-wing propaganda and get out in the real world sometime.

A white teacher in Florida is under fire after she sang a "monkey" birthday song to a six-year-old Black boy at school.

In a video shared on TikTok, the boy's classmates and teacher first sang the traditional "Happy Birthday" song to celebrate the occasion. The teacher then delivered what the boy's mother believes was a racially charged version of the birthday song.

"Happy birthday to you. You live in the zoo. You look like a monkey, and you smell like one too," the teacher recited, leaving several children visibly uncomfortable and confused.

The mother of the boy, identified as six-year-old Legend, called the teacher's song a racial insult.

“I’m sharing this so people understand what my son experienced in his classroom. A birthday should be celebrated with kindness, not racial jokes from an adult in a position of authority," the mother said.

Let's see how many of the right wingers make excuses for this.

What a disgrace.
/---/ I miss the days when we could sing silly songs without losing our jobs.

Isn’t it possible the teacher is just a little oblivious and genuinely thought she was just being funny/playful and sang the song without any racial intent?

Its very possible, but anyone with common sense would have had the thought "this isnt going to look good when the internet sees it"

Where is the racial slur?

Kids usually love monkeys.

Are you saying blacks look like monkeys?

Im saying the teacher exhibited a lack of common sense and insensitivity in a racially charged world.

We can't know what she was thinking, but we can know she didnt think before she acted, and that her doing that, and posting it, was going to draw claims of racism.

At the very least, and extreme lack of judgment.

No, white folks calling black children is.

We don't know that she was intentionally TRYING to be racist. Her intent could have been completely innocent, but it was just a very poor decision to do what she did. Regardless of her intent, there was no chance this wasnt going to draw negative opinion.

/----/ No one did that. It's a silly takeoff on Happy Birthday I recall from my childhood. It was sung to white kids. You dope.

Black fathers are more likely to abandon their children than white fathers. We're talking big picture, not outliers.

Chances are the teacher is a leftwing looney and was probably naive about the whole thing.

I mean, I thought we lived in a “post racial” society after 8 years of the Hussein.

Nah, racial tension is worse than ever

None will make excuses

I'm not sure if they all were but black kids just have a higher rate of being fatherless.

The young man who shot your hero Charlie Kirk was his father present.

Yes.

6 year old black kids don't know anything about "racism" until black adults with low self-esteem and inferiority complexes teach them about "racism."

Exactly what I've been saying for a long time now.

Me too

Actually I didn't see that there would be a problem and I'm rightwing.

You have to look at the climate were in. This is not like it used to be decades ago. Everything is scrutinized nowadays. Even if she was well meaning it's just not a good look. I'll admit that we do not know what was going on in her head, but singing that version of the song to a black child is just a no no. Again, even well meaning, it just looks wrong and people are going to take it as wrong. She should have known better.
If she sings it to white kids too then it shouldn’t be an issue,
