The “rich”, pay the vast majority of taxes. The lowest 50% of earners contribute just 2.3% of taxes paid. Half of the tax paying population, the bottom half, only contributes 2.3% of tax revenue.

So let’s take someone who earns $500,000 and someone who earns $25,000.

The rich guy pays $150,000 in taxes and the poor guy pays $5,000 - and that’s not enough of a difference for you? Then consider that the poor guy is getting $3,000 in food stamps, and he’s putting in $2,000.

You see, you work under the misconception that the wealthy create wealth. A parasite has convinced you it is a vital organ, and you fell for it.

What is wealth? Wealth is just a measure of the value of all goods and services working folks produce. The problem, of course, is that when 1% of the population has 43% of the wealth, they most certainly are not doing 43% of the labor to produce the value.

Of course, concentrations of wealth are necessary to take chances and launch enterprises. But our system is pretty skewed when the top 20% have 87% of the wealth and the bottom 40% have less than 1% of the wealth.
