I'm declaring that if Japan had heeded the warning and they were aware that America had a powerful bomb they just didn't know the extent of it and the knowledge of this most certainly would have impact their decision. Regardless, the atomic bomb could have been avoided.

Do some research on the Potsdam Declaration that the U.S, U.K and I think China made. Japan leaders were actually (and perhaps surprisingly) considering this offer, which in itself was progress, but their arrogant leaders refused to accept it.

Much of the anger and desire for blood and revenge/retribution lead to the dropping of the bomb, this is unfortunately how much rage there was at the time after so many dead Americans via Pearl Harbor and the Battle in the Pacific.

The Second World War had been going on for six years. Germany had already surrendered, Mussolini hung upside down. The horrors of the holocaust were now known but Japan had a policy of NEVER surrendering. That's far too arrogant when your citizens are at risk.

Technically America and Japan might still be at war a la N Korea/S Korea if not for the dropping of the A bomb.

It was a really horrible decision to have to make in a list of really horrible options. I'm glad I didnt have to make that decision.

Dropping nukes on Residential Cities is not just alright, sometimes it's the most humane solution. There are some things much less pleasant than an instant death in the nuclear fireball, and we can't say that Japanese didn't deserve them.

And no, WWII was mostly secular and clean (with all those dirty moments). It wasn't a religious war.

If one is fighting for God Himself, then one can do nearly anything. One's enemies in such a war are also fighting against God, a hateful and damnable thing.
