Politics is the art of lying. Smart people know to not believe a word a politician says, and to be skeptical of what they do. Long term trends tell more about a politician that anything else. Take Joe Biden for example, he has been lying since the day he became a politician. Most people don't know that he was laughed out of the '88 primary by his own democrat colleagues who exposed his habitual lies on just about everything. Since then he got better at lying and studied the Art of Lying. Does Trump lie? Yes, when it's politically convenient. He also greatly exaggerates many things. Is he as bad as Biden/Harris/Pelosi/Schiff or any other democrat? I don't think so. He needs to get better at the Art of Lying still.

Look at Bill Maher and the people he has on his weekly show and podcast. There are many examples of people on the Left reevaluating their policy positions and moving away from the wingnut stuff.
