The fire department, public schools, public hospitals, libraries, Social Security, Medicare, and the post office are ALL socialist programs. Any program where tax dollars provide a service to the general public is "socialism".
The problem is that when people like you find out what socialism REALLY is, they're in favour of it. The Founders intended that government provide these things to give a platform for the American people to succeed.
But Republicans only want the wealthy to thrive. Workers need to be kept poor and underpaid because they're "lazy". This is an insult to working Americans everywhere. If this is true, why are Canadians, Norwegians and Germans such hardworking people. We have cradle to the grave social programs, free education, and cash for life at age 65, and yet we all work our asses off, and have a good life as a result.
