Where Was This Research Conducted?

It wouldnt surprise me one bit.
The ability to manage money is a lost art in America. Everyone has to have the latest and greatest phone, gaming console and cars they cant afford.

There's been a few threads on the subject before, so it's really nothing new.

People want instant everything without waiting & saving for it, just so they can keep up with those Jones's. They end up carrying more debt than they'll ever be able to pay.

My question to them is how many keep large checking accounts, rather than keeping extra funds in a savings account? True, they don’t earn much today, but they earn more than just a checking account.

It states, that if they missed more than one paycheck they would have to dip into savings. I don’t find that a serious problem. The fact they have savings to dip in to, is a good thing. That means they are saving.
