1. The Comedy Central Headquarters is on the west side, on 11th Avenue, which is about a mile away from Times Square, so the entire premise is false, and

In reality, even if all of what happened in the housing market had gone down like it did, it wouldn't have made even a dent in the US Economy if it weren't for the derivatives and credit default swaps that increased the value of those bad mortgages by, in some cases, up to 60 times their actual worth.

And THAT was completely the fault of the Republican congress of 1999 and 2000.

So there's PLENTY of blame to go around to both parties.
