The very weapons that Israeli forces have used to enforce a blockade of Gaza are now being used against them.

i'm thinking the Israelis now need to do a proper pruning of weaponry in Gaza, the West Bank and southern Lebanon.

Not really sure about that. Israel typically uses much better weapons that are available to Hamas and Hezbollah. Mostly Russian, Chinese, and Iranian-made stuff. Most of Israel's rifles are built around the 5.56mm, while the rifles Hamas uses are chambered for 7.62x39. But some Hamas personnel could be picking up weapons from the battlefield.
