International law prohibits the arbitrary deprivation of life, which includes extrajudicial killing. This norm is codified in every major human rights treaty and has attained jus cogens status as a non-derogable norm in international law. In the United States, the Torture Victim Protection Act (“TVPA”) establishes civil liability for extrajudicial killing.

Is the blowing up of a boat 1,000 miles away from the US an example of trump getting bored with breaking US law so he wanted to extend his reach? Maybe. We don't know cuz we have very little info to go on. One thing we do know is nothing this government tells us can be trusted. Distrust and verify is the necessary approach.

But some officials at the Defense Department privately expressed concern on Wednesday about the administration’s shifting narratives, including where the vessel was headed. Mr. Rubio had said on Tuesday that it was going to Trinidad, while Mr. Trump said the United States. On Wednesday, Mr. Rubio changed his version, saying the drug-laden boat was bound for the United States.

The secretary said in Mexico City that drug cartels and traffickers, including those on the boat, “pose an immediate threat to the United States, period.”

Pentagon officials were still working Wednesday on what legal authority they would tell the public was used to back up the extraordinary strike in international waters.

Is there any legal authority? Does it matter to a guy who rolls out of bed wondering which law to break today? Does immunity for the prez, invented by the SC, count in the Hague? Was Don irritated by his puffy ankles and decided to take it out on some guys going fishing? I'm not sure we'll ever find out.

Remember when you posted this when Obama used extrajudicial killing to take out Americans in the Middle East? I don't.

Blowing up a boat load of drug dealing terrorists is legal moral and necessary.

Of course there is legal authority.

Tren de Aragua is an International Terror organization.

Taking out their drug shipments to America is absolutely necessary to cutting off their ability to kill Americans.

In fact there is no "legal authority" not to take them out.

Those drugs were headed here, regardless of stopovers.

The Russians are dropping grenades from drones onto civilians in Ukraine, just for sport.

You should put a call in to the Pentagon and help them out.

You can take the regime's word for it there were any drugs at all. I don't. I think they need to present some evidence since their word isn't worth shit.
Every time Trump has success democrats have a heart attack. Why couldnt they stop drugs.

I'm guessing they will search for evidence. There's sure to be some flotsam in the area of the strike.

You mean they killed those people without evidence they were headed for the US with drugs? I see that as being.........problematic. Especially for the kids of the folks on the boat.

Why do libs think its ok for liberal regimes like Venezuela to flood our nation's ghettos with dangerous drugs?

Is it their goal to keep the poor blacks in the inner cities in perpetual poverty and dependence?

Trump is fighting back and hard.

Libs hate that

Just to shut the critics up.

Sadly, such actions won't stop or reduce the flow of drugs very much. We need to detain the users in treatment facilities. Nearly a million show up at hospital emergency departments each year after overdosing. Low hanging fruit.

I was thinking when presidents authorize killing American citizens would be a bigger story....but... guess not..

I just knew one of you idiots would write something like that. It follows the same line of thinking as defending the illegal violation of the Posse Comitatus act because an increase in police presence lowered crime.

No one wants drugs coming in to the country. And before trump, no one wanted our government to break laws to achieve a desirable end.

I'm losing track of what your defense is. You're saying trump may have broken international law to shut up the critics? Critics of what?

Trump might order a search for evidence to silence the critics.
