Odd thing with the Canvasback duck.....They were so good they damn near ended duck hunting and created the entire migratory waterfowl act all by themselves.

Even today with Canvasback ducks you are extremely limited in how many you can take.

More than 100 years ago diamondback terrapins were highly abundant; however, human harvest for food and use of their shells in jewelry nearly did this species in.

I never ate one but I used to catch/sell them to a buyer in DC.....Same with snapping turtles. Snappers are great eating but a ***** to clean.

Not a damn thing. Im not trusting their food handling protocols, and the lack of refrigeration during that time period is even more concerning.
